(ARA) – Emeril Lagasse knows a thing or two when it comes to adding some flavor into life. Known for his signature big, bold flavors, Lagasse has mastered the art of cooking. With the launch of a new show on Planet Green, new episodes of “Emeril Live!” on Fine Living Network, and “Essence of Emeril” on Food Network, he is constantly inventing ways to spice up everyday life.

“For me, cooking is all about exploring new flavor combinations. I also like to add a little flavor to my everyday life whenever possible,” says Emeril.

Try some of Emeril’s tips on adding spice to everyday life:

Try something new:
Gardening is the perfect outdoor activity where you can actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. There’s nothing better than cooking with ingredients that are fresh from the garden. To get started, try planting a window box or container garden with your favorite herbs like basil, thyme and rosemary. Before you know it, you’ll have something fresh to spice up your menu all week long.

Kick up your morning routine:
Start the day off right by replacing ordinary mint toothpaste with the refreshing flavors found in Crest Whitening Expressions toothpaste. My favorite flavor is Wintergreen Ice, it cools the mouth and awakens the senses, adding a little twist to my brushing routine.

Explore what’s local:
You don’t have to travel to a faraway destination to experience the flavors of a different culture. Consider sampling new food at an ethnic restaurant, a cultural festival or parade, or enroll in a cooking class to learn about a particular style of cuisine.

Taste the globe:
There are so many unexpected flavors and spices used in many of the world’s great cuisines. Test your culinary boundaries by incorporating one herb or spice that you don’t cook with often such as mint, cilantro, cumin or curry. Your family will thank you for the unexpected flavor and you’ll have fun trying something new.
